Adwick Park Rangers U12 Girls 5 Retford U12 Girls 2
APR welcomed Retford, last seasons most improved team to Outwood. It was a good match up against Retford who prefer to play direct and isolate defenders whereas APR play through the lines and like to get their foot on the ball.
The first goal of the game was an Eva B finish from a right wing cross by Lily. The opposition didn’t learn their lesson when Lily fed MG who managed to calmly get the ball out of her feet to score. The third goal came from Mel getting forward and provided her first assist of the season for MG who did the rest by rounding the keeper. Retford got one just before the break with a long throw that bounced into the path of the Retford forward to finish.
The second half Retford came out fighting but Immy made her first assist of the season for MG to score her hat trick and then MG pressed the Retford defender to score her fourth of the game. Retford kept going and scored another consolation which was much deserved.
A shout out to the keepers today, Kya and Ella who were immense. Eva C came back from her holiday with the same work rate as before. Immy showed a different side to her game with good all round play and MG proved too hot to handle on the break. Player of the match went to Pearl who didn’t put a foot wrong, made some clever passes and her decision making/ positioning was spot on.
A special thanks to Kerry for organising a raffle to pay for our Halloween party, Gary and Jon for their help setting up and Callum for running the line. Also congratulations to Lewis who has now qualified as a referee after overseeing 5 games after today’s game.
APR U12’s girls are looking for a sponsor for a new away kit. If anyone is interested in sponsoring APR’s only girls team please get in touch.
