Match Report

Adwick Park Rangers JFC u11

                  Vs

Sprotbrough & Cusworth Crusaders u11 blue

On a wonderful Sunday morning up on Ridgewood School playing fields the two sides met in a eagerly anticipated match…

Top of the table Vs bottom clash!

Adwick have looked amazing over several games since Coach Craig instructed a new formation and boy what a transformation it’s turned out to be. Always being a good side, this has pushed us on with teams not being able to figure it out, to stop us playing our game - playing the game the right way, out from the back, on the floor!

Coach Denman Guardiola is back from his official scouting trip in Barcelona, tanned legs with his crocs on show for all to see - No kid Messi here today?

Has he brought back new warm up plans from Barça instead of a new superstar?

We’ll catch up later with Coach Denman Guardiola, looks busy putting cones out.

1st half

Adwick started as they meant to go on - in control, looking very good, sharp and strong.

First to everything, pressing high and keeping control of the ball.

Other coaches in Doncaster will tell you that they’ve been passed off the park when they’ve played us but many came away with a win - the curse looked to be back, wave after wave of attack and we couldn’t put the ball in the net that was until some great link up play between Lewis and Lennon that had Lennon through on goal….. Goal…. Took it very well, with a nice side footed placed shot!

The game could quite easily have been 6-0 at this point with Sprotbrough probably wondering how they weren’t 6 nil down?

Wave after wave and Adwick again couldn’t find the net until Harry made a 40 yard dash through the middle of the park and found him self on the end of a superb pass after great link up play between lewis and Lennon… Harry first time shot lobbed the keeper, what a phase of play and what a Finish! Sprotbrough had no idea how to deal with that and with that the half time whistle blew.

2-0 to Adwick but on another day could have been 9-0

Coach Denman Guardiola doesn’t usually like us listening in to team talks and today was no different. Ushered us away whilst he gave the team talk….

Changes at half time:

Shay on for Charlie

Harry on for James

Seth on for Lewis

Joe on for Will

2nd half

Very much the same as the first half - all Adwick possession.. wave after wave with that 3rd goal eventually coming from a well worked goal and Shay slotting it home.

At this point Sprotbrough hadn’t had a single shot but that means nothing in Children’s football - Sprotbrough scored 2 goals in quick succession from nothing. Both goals very similar long range lobbing goals.

Sprotbrough were now getting back into the game with possession, but Adwick managed to keep them at bay and equally created chances of their own..

Full time and it’s finished 3-2

Few questions for Coach Guardiola Denman:

Q. How was Barça?

A. Barça was a great experience, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Q. We were expecting to see kid Messi, Where is he?

A. The deal looked to have been done then i spoke to Papa Fred about the deal and he reminded me that a good tradesmen never blames his tools - with that I realised that we didn’t need a new superstar but needed to work with what we have and look - show me a better footballing side than us?

Q. You surprised a few of the spectators and the players with your decision to put Harry S on the wing.. is that going to be a common occurrence moving forward?

A. It Will be a decision made on each game day but if his mam brings me another sausage sandwich it could swing it in his favour. Was delicious 👌
