April Adwick Park Rangers U11’s Girls vs Retford U11’s Girls

Saturdays game was the final match of the season for APR against Retford who are the most improved team in the league. The game was an end to end thriller with Immi O grabbing the first goal of the game from a lovely through ball by Lily with a nice shimmy around the keeper to make it 100 goals in 2 seasons.  Retford got into the game and showed dominance with a well deserved goal by overloading the APR defence who were slow to react. Retford’s second came shortly after when Ella misjudged her angles as the pressure of the game got to our girls. Although all honours were even just before the break when Eva C got the equaliser following an Eva B assist from the left.  During the second half Retford again went in front when the free kick was too hot to handle and was possibly aided by the wind. This led to the APR players being under the cosh for the first time in ages with the ball dropping kindly to Retford time and again.

Then with minutes to spare APR showed they could hold their nerve when G-Unit floated in a beauty of a corner that landed to Immi O who sweetly struck the ball into the top bins to level the match, cue scenes of pandemonium as APR celebrated the goal. This was because APR U11 girls have gone a full season undefeated finishing 6 points better than the second placed team and 41 goals to the good.

Player of the match could have easily gone to Eva J for a masterful performance in defence but it instead went to Immi O for the two goals that got us the result and put us in the history books as league invincible’s.
